While I’m sure you operate at a high level of efficiency, I bet you can carve out 10 minutes from your packed schedule without a significant negative impact to your performance.

Specifically, employees at poorly performing companies were 79% more likely to have lower overall self-awareness than those at firms with robust return on revenue.

Organizational psychologist and author of Insight, Dr. Tasha Eurich, in summarizing her research reported similar results.

She found that self-awareness is a key predictor of leadership success, and her research suggests that when we see ourselves clearly, we:

  • Make sounder decisions
  • Build stronger relationships
  • Communicate more effectively
  • Are more confident and more creative
  • Are more-effective leaders with more-satisfied employees and more-profitable companies

I don’t know about you, but those are the types of leaders I want on my team!

Interestingly, however, Eurich also discovered that only 10-15% of people are truly self-aware, despite 95% believing they are.

That tells me that to be a successful leader of leaders, you need to do everything you possibly can to help them develop true self-awareness.
