One Meeting Minute Thought for Your Week
There are more new problems in the workplace than we can keep track of.
🚩 The Great Resignation.
🚩 Return To The Office.
🚩 Quiet Quitting.
The list of challenges continues to grow.
And, the good news is you can do something about it.
We all know many people hate meetings.
Normal meetings anyway – the ones that give “bad meetings” their reputation.
And, when people hate things about their job, they want to leave.
So, take a moment to ask yourself this question:
Do my meetings make people want to come to work?
Or stay home.
Or show up but not engage.
Or worse, start looking for another job.
If you think your meetings might be contributing even a little bit to the most recent workplace challenges at your company, take action.
Here’s how you can make your meetings part of the solution instead of part of the problem.
Help people look forward to your meetings.
To get started, just start a conversation.
✅ Tell the people in your meetings you’re glad they’re there.
✅ Explain that you want to make the most of their time.
✅ Let them know you appreciate their contributions.
✅ Ask for their opinion on how to improve.
✅ Listen to what they have to say.
Maybe, just maybe, they’ll come back to work tomorrow with an improved attitude.
And, not a letter of resignation for their boss.
Do your part to keep people in your workplace engaged and motivated.
Make your meetings part of the solution not the problem.
You can make a positive difference in your workplace!

You’ve probably heard the term “Quiet Quitting” but may not be sure what it means. This article by Lindsay Ellis and Angela Yang in The Wall Street Journal gives an insightful perspective from Gen Z professionals – “If Your Co-Workers Are ‘Quiet Quitting,’ Here’s What That Means“.
And, if you’re trying to figure out what the future of remote work looks like, you’re not alone. McKinsey’s report will provide you with data to help you make good decisions for your people and your business. The title reveals one of their main conclusions – “Americans are embracing flexible work—and they want more of it“.
Finally, I appreciated the ideas in this Coaching for Leaders podcast episode – “604: How Remote Teams Build Belonging, with Gustavo Razzetti“.
